As a sushi-lover and poké bowl-lover with celiac disease, spicy tuna at restaurants has always been a no-go. With so many sauces involved containing gluten, I just can’t trust a restaurant to make it gluten-free, even if they were to claim it didn’t contain gluten.
But before my celiac disease diagnosis, spicy tuna was always a great way to add spice and flavor to my sushi and poké bowls. So Monica and I worked together to create a quick and easy spicy tuna poke bowl that we can enjoy for dinner any day of the week.
Michael & Monica’s Gluten-Free Spicy Tuna Poké Bowl Ingredients
Ingredients
8 oz. Tuna Steak (Sashimi Grade)
1.5 tbsp. Sriracha (We use Sky Valley)
0.5 tsp. Chili Oil
Sea Salt
1 tbsp. GF Bread Crumbs (We use 4C Crumbs)
1 tbsp. Kewpie Mayo
0.5 tsp. Gluten-free Soy Sauce
Spicy Mayo Topping
2 tbsp. Kewpie Mayo
2 tsp. Sriracha
Poke Bowl Blend Ingredients
2 cups Sushi Rice
Seaweed salad
Edamame
Cucumber
Avocado
Pineapple

Gluten Free Spicy Tuna Poké Bowl Recipe
Step 1: Add sriracha, chili oil, gluten-free bread crumbs, kewpie mayo, sea salt and gluten-free soy sauce in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
Step 2: Dice the tuna into small chunks.
Step 3: Add the chunks of tuna into the bowl with the spicy tuna sauce you created in the first step. Mix thoroughly.
Step 4 (Optional): If you like spicy tuna the way it’s made at restaurants with a smoother homogenous texture (like a spicy tuna roll), put the mixture from step 3 in a blender and pulse until you’ve reached the preferred texture.
Step 5: Put the spicy tuna in a bowl and put it in the refrigerator. Let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes, and begin gathering the other ingredients to assemble the poké bowl.
Assembling the Poké Bowl
Congratulations! You’ve created gluten-free spicy tuna! Now all that’s left is assembling the poké bowl. We recommend putting the ingredients in in this order:
- Sushi rice
- Fruits and/or vegetable toppings
- Spicy tuna
- Seaweed salad and spicy mayo on top
This should result in 2 – 4 gluten-free spicy tuna poké bowls that’ll be both visually pleasing and delicious to the taste buds!
